TRUMP ADMINISTRATION TERMINATES TEMPORARY PROTECTED STATUS, OR TPS, FOR HAITIANS AND CAMEROONIANS

For the 500,000 Haitians who entered the U.S. with Temporary Protected Status, the

Trump administration has terminated this status as of September 2, 2025. After that

date, Haitians previously under TPS potentially risk being deported.

Cameroonians who entered the U.S. with TPS, will see their legal status terminated by

the Trump administration on August 4, 2025, after which they potentially risk

deportation.

For more information, see https://www.politico.com/news/2025/06/28/tps-haiti-

terminated-trump-00431124.

But while Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem deems that Haiti is “safe for Haitian

citizens to return home,” the State Department still advises Americans not to travel there

due to risk of “kidnapping, crime, civil unrest, and limited health care.”

Immigrants with TPS from Ethiopia, Somalia, South Sudan, or Sudan will have their

Protected Status extended. They can track the dates of their extension at:
