TRUMP ADMINISTRATION TERMINATES TEMPORARY PROTECTED STATUS, OR TPS, FOR HAITIANS AND CAMEROONIANS
For the 500,000 Haitians who entered the U.S. with Temporary Protected Status, the
Trump administration has terminated this status as of September 2, 2025. After that
date, Haitians previously under TPS potentially risk being deported.
Cameroonians who entered the U.S. with TPS, will see their legal status terminated by
the Trump administration on August 4, 2025, after which they potentially risk
deportation.

But while Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem deems that Haiti is “safe for Haitian
citizens to return home,” the State Department still advises Americans not to travel there
due to risk of “kidnapping, crime, civil unrest, and limited health care.”
Immigrants with TPS from Ethiopia, Somalia, South Sudan, or Sudan will have their
