Headline: Employment Authorization for Cameroonian F1 Nonimmigrant Students

The Secretary of Homeland Security is exercising authority to temporarily suspend the applicability of certain requirements governing on-campus and off-campus employment. Suspension of the employment limitations is for  F-1 nonimmigrant students whose country of citizenship is Cameroon regardless of country of birth (or individuals having no nationality who last habitually resided in Cameroon), who are present in the United States in lawful F-1 nonimmigrant student status on June 7, 2022, and who are experiencing severe economic hardship as a direct result of the crises in Cameroon. Effective on June 7, 2022, the suspension is available through December 7, 2023, for those who are in lawful F-1 nonimmigrant status.

The Secretary is taking action to provide relief to these Cameroonian nonimmigrant students who are lawful F-1 nonimmigrant students so the students may request employment authorization, work an increased number of hours while school is in session, and reduce their course load while continuing to maintain their F-1 nonimmigrant student status.
